Pre-writing path worksheets (zigzag, waves, loops)
Pre-writing path worksheets are one A4 sheet of zigzags, waves, loops, or lines. They build pencil control before letter tracing, usually at ages 3–4.
Make a pre-writing path page
- Open pre-writing paths.
- Pick zigzag, waves, loops, or vertical lines.
- Choose four to six rows.
- Download the PDF and print one sheet.
- Let them follow the path with a finger first, then a chunky crayon. Stop while they still like it.
Paths before letters
A pre-writing path worksheet is one A4 sheet of zigzags, waves, loops, or lines. Many three-year-olds are not ready for A yet. They are ready to follow a line with a finger or chunky crayon.
Paths build the same control as letter tracing without the alphabet noise.

How to sit with a path page
Sit side by side. Start at the left. Slow is fine. The path does not need to be perfect.
If the wrist collapses, tape the page to a window or wall and try a vertical line. Air writing still counts on a hard day.
What to do after two rows
Stop. Go pour water or read a picture book. Paths should warm the hand, not fill the morning.
