You don’t need a preschool curriculum yet
If your child is 3–6, a bought year-long box is optional. A short daily habit of books, talk, counting, and one real job is not.
Run a preschool morning without a box
- Do one shared book or picture walk.
- Do one short making or counting game (spoons count).
- Do one useful job: shoes, spoons, a plant, or a bag for tomorrow.
- Stop. Rest. That is a serious morning.
- If a boxed plan later helps a second adult see the week, add it then. Not because August ads said so.
A box is optional. A habit is not.
If your child is 3–6, you do not need a bought preschool year to have a good morning. You need a short daily habit: talk, a book, a real job, and rest.
August is when the boxes look sensible. November is when people search for something simpler.
Homeschool shops are full of year-long preschool programmes. Some families love them. Many buy them in August, feel behind by October, and look for a short thing they can actually finish. If you want a boxed plan, that is a valid choice. It is not a requirement for a three-, four-, or five-year-old to have a good year.
What actually matters at 3–6
Talk. Read pictures and books. Play outside or move inside. Help with real jobs. Count real things. Hear sounds in words. Rest.
None of that needs a scope-and-sequence PDF.

It can help if you want someone else to sequence the year, or if a second adult needs a written plan.
